Face Reflexology Preview

WHAT IS FACE REFLEXOLOGY?

Face reflexology uses a series of highly effective techniques drawn from ancient Chinese and act as a natural face lift with no need for surgery, helping you to look and feel younger.
Many people suffer facial tension which builds up in the facial muscles causing puffiness, age spots, lines & wrinkles. Face reflexology is used to treat the meridians and encourage the healthy balance & flow of chi throughout the whole body, while acupressure techniques produce the equivalent of an acupuncture face lift without the insertion of needles. Highly refined & gentle hand & finger manipulation is also used to treat the surface & deep facial muscles to give you a more radiant & youthful appearance.
Toxins are removed, blood circulation increased, facial muscles toned & strengthened and the condition of the skin is repaired & balanced, minimising the ageing process and making your skin look smoother, clearer & younger.
Unlike facial surgery, face reflex has no ill side effects and the benefits can not only be seen and felt in the face but throughout the whole body, balancing life force energy and improving overall health & vitality.
Having a face reflex is an ideal way to pamper and treat yourself for that special occasion such as weddings, birthdays & parties - helping you to feel and look your best on your special day!
The therapy uses a minimal amount of herbal essential oil & incorporating a wide variety of techniques including facial guasha.Treatments typically last for 1 hour. Workshops and classes are available on request.

About Herbal Meridian Oil

MAGNOLIA HERBAL ESSENTIAL OIL
Where Breathing is Smooth and Refreshing
Magnolia is frequently used as diaphoretic in Chinese medicine. With an invigorating aroma, Chinese physicians believe that magnolia is able to dispel chills and relieve nasal discomfort. In clinic tests, magnolia has proven effective in treating various kinds of flu, headache and nasal inflammation, running nose, stuffy nose, blocked nose, etc.
At the end of 1973, some ancient medicine and pharmacology books of Chin and Han dynasties were found at Ma-Wuang-Duei, Hunan province, China. They are the earliest books on early Chinese medicine and pharmacology. Also found at the site were 9 kinds of plants, which had been preserved, and they included magnolia, a clear indication that it was a precious herb for health maintenance during the Chin and Han dynasties.
Modern scientific experiments have proven the pharmacological effects of magnolia, including its ability to act as an astringent, protect the mucous membrane, aid in blood circulation, enhance the absorption of secretions, combat bacteria and viruses, help to stabilize blood pressure, prevent allergies and asthma, as well as relieve and resolve pathological changes in the mucous membranes.

Acupressure `good for back pain'

Here's an article from the BBC News website dated 17 Feb 2008.
Back pain affects 17 million people in the UKAcupressure is more effective in reducing lower back pain than standard physical therapies, a study suggests.
Researchers in Taiwan found the effects of the therapy which involves applying pressure on points stimulated by acupuncture lasted for six months.
They gave 129 patients six doses of either acupressure or physical therapy over a month and compared the results.
The study in the BMJ Online also found those who had acupressure had improved body function and were less disabled.
We find that acupressure is very effective in treating back pain generally, but it is not as effective as acupuncture.
Dr Graham ChandlerInstitute for Complementary Medicine
Those in the physical therapy group were given routine therapies such as spinal manipulation, heat therapy and electrical stimulation as well as exercise.
The acupressure group received sessions using a uniform technique.
The research team from the Institute of Preventive Medicine at the National Taiwan University in Taipei questioned all patients on their symptoms before the treatment and afterwards, and then again six months later.
They asked them how much pain they were in, whether it interfered with work and how many days off they had had.
They also asked how much their sleep was disturbed and how satisfied they were.
Combination of therapies
The team found acupressure resulted in an 89% reduction in disability compared to physical therapy.
They also found those in the acupressure group reported greater benefits in terms of leg pain, interference with work and days off from work or school.
Dr Graham Chandler, an adviser to the Institute of Complementary Medicine, said the findings already confirmed what many in his field knew.
"We find that acupressure is very effective in treating back pain generally, but it is not as effective as acupuncture.
"We would agree that it is better than physiotherapy for back pain but not all physical therapies.
"Acupressure is best used in combination with Chinese physical therapies and with techniques that teach the muscles to regain the original shape they had before injury."
Intervention
A spokeswoman for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy said experts recognised that offering one form of intervention in isolation will rarely solve the problem.
"Physiotherapists will assess their patients and draw up a treatment program for their specific condition and lifestyle, which may combine several techniques including manual therapies, appropriate exercises and in some cases acupressure.
"It is important that patients are educated in the cause of their problems and how they can self-manage their symptoms.
"This research offers further confirmation of the benefits physiotherapy intervention can bring to patients with lower back pain."
Back pain affects approximately 17.3 million people in the UK - over one third of the adult population.
For around 3 million people their pain lasts throughout the year.

How Safe is Acupressure?

Just how safe is acupressure?

This questions have popped up many times during my workshops. Foremost among the advantages of acupressure's healing touch is that it is safe to do on yourself and others - even if you've never done it before - so long as you follow the instructions and pay attention to the cautions. There are no side effects from drugs, because there are no drugs. And the only equipment needed are your own two hands. You can practice acupressure therapy any time, anywhere.

Here are some interesting facts:

1. Altenative Medicines is gaining popularity not only in the orient but also in the developed countries.During the year 1997 in U.S.A. people made more visits to the alternative medicines practitioners than the total visits made to the family doctors.

2. The diseases often referred to as not fully curable by allopathy / conventional medicines are known to have been cured completely by Acupressure. The examples are asthama, arthritis (various forms), hypertension, diabetes, epilepsy etc., sciatica, piles, obesity etc.

3. Acupressure helps to manage stress and is very effective in depression related problems.

4. Various types of back aches or chest pains whether due to internal organs or otherwise are known to have been cured completely by Acupressure.

5. Ladies problems often associated with menstrual cycles are known to have been cured by acupressure treatment.

6. World Health Organization recognizes Acupressure science under Alternative Medicines or Traditional Mecicines. It considers acupressure as one of the alternative medicinal treatment which is important in solving the health problems of the world.

7. For developing countries therapies like acupressure are a boon. It is not only affordable for the common people but also it can be useful in taking medical care to the villages where conventional medicinal treatment is hard to find.

Head and Shouder Pains

Modern Days common ailment – “Achy Breaky” Head and Shoulder Pains

Neck and shoulder injuries can be divided into two major categories: acute and chronic. Acute injuries are generally characterized by redness, swelling, inflammation and sharp pain. Chronic injuries are generally characterized by stiffness, numbness, discomfort and dull pain.
Acute neck and shoulder problems are often caused by accidents, whiplash, improper sleeping or reading postures, and similar traumas. In addition to pain, redness, swelling and/or inflammation are sometimes present. Treatment consists of reducing pain, swelling and muscle spasms. Herbal formulas are designed to dispel painful symptoms while supporting the healing process. Strong analgesic herbs are combined with anti-spasmodic herbs and blood-invigorating herbs to alleviate pain, promote blood circulation and open the meridian channels.
Chronic neck and shoulder problems are characterized by pain, numbness, stiffness, discomfort, limited mobility, slow recovery or continuing deterioration. Effective treatment must focus on activating qi and blood circulation, opening the channels and collaterals, and nourishing the muscles and tendons.

The common causes are:

1. Stagnation of Qi and Blood due to trauma or sprain. Soft tissue injury (e.g. sprain, whiplash), poor posture in sedentary work, history of repeated sprain. Symptoms: sudden onset, acute pain, stiffness, limitation of movement, rigidity, maybe bruising, no improvement with rest, usually worsened with movement.
Invigo

2. Liver Qi stagnation. These two syndromes are here presented together. In practice one can see either syndrome on its own or some combination of the two. What links the two is the Liver disharmony and susceptibility of the patient to emotional stress. Aetiology: long-term emotional stress, frustration, anger (expressed or repressed), lack of exercise, sitting in one position for a long time, poor posture, overwork. These factors tend to constrain the Liver Qi, or, in the case of overwork, damage the Liver-Yin causing Liver-Yang to rise. Symptoms: pain, stiffness, maybe one-sided; symptoms worse with stress or when upset or angry and better with relaxation and massage. Associated symptoms may include irritability, flushed head or upper body, sometimes worse in the afternoon and evening, red eyes or blurred vision, possibly heavy and muzzy head and poor concentration. The irritability flushed head/upper body and red eyes or blurred visions are all due to the rising of Liver-Yang: heat rises and so one sees heat signs in the upper part of the body. As the Liver-Yang rises it can carry phlegm up to the head giving symptoms of heavy head, dizziness and poor concentration.

Herbal medicines definitely have outstanding analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic functions and benefits. The therapeutic effectiveness of herbal essential oils is dependent on accurate diagnosis and treatment. When used properly, herbs are powerful alternatives to drugs for pain management.

Relief of My Aching Stiff Neck of 6 Years

Relief of My Stiff Neck of 6 Years

"For 6 years, I have been having difficulties in moving my head from side to side, due to my osteoporosis condition. Over the years, I've tried many different kinds of orthodox and alternative medical treatments but my condition showed no signs of improvements. I was told that I would have to live with it and I actually accepted the advice. Until one evening while I was in Singapore, I attended a Meridian 101 workshop. During the session, I volunteered myself for a demonstration by the workshop speaker. Though it seemed like a just a simple massage using the buffalo bone guasha board with Vital Meridian herbal essential oils on the neck and shoulder, I could feel the effects almost immediately! For the first time in years, I was able to move my head freely without any pain! And the relief has continued till today."

Stiff Neck and Tired Shoulders

An erect spine has important psychological effects. Physical and mental equilibrium are closely connected; it is difficult for a person who is physically imbalanced to maintain mental equipoise. Depressed people usually walk with bent shoulders and curved backs. As they stooped forward, their paravertibral muscles are chronically strained and aching. This chronic back pain in turn contributes to their mental depression, in a dangerous vicious cycle of psychosomatic illness.

Small infacts naturally move their spines in a variety of positions, but this flexibility is lost as the body grows. An average person of 30 years can no longer touch the floor with his or her fingertips when the knees are straight. why? The reason for this restriction of body movement is the progressive shortening of ligaments and tendons. Ligaments are bands or sheets of fibrous tissues, connecting two or more bones, cartilage, or other structures; tendons connect muscles to bones. As a person grows older, the backbonestiffensbecause the ligaments become tighter. and since ligamentous structures are continuous, if mobility is restricted in any area, the smooth flow of movement of the entire body is affected.

The cause of the shortening of the ligaments and tendons are those troublemakers, bad posture and poor balance. The spinal column has four curves, all of which lend resilience and spring to the vertibral column and are essential for walking and jumping. Improper posture may exaggerate those curves of the vertibral column. For example, those who sit much of the time - students, office workers, artists, writers - thrust their heads and necks forward. This awkward posture shortens the ligaments and cause the spine to become rounded. These shortened, tightened ligaments and tendons compress and irritate nerves, causing headaches and severe pains in the neck and shoulders.

Applying acupressure and guasha on the Feng-Zhi acu points on the back of the neck near the hairline on the outer edge of both tendons and the Jian-Jin acu points on the shoulders an inch away from the side of the neck with magnolia, forsythe detox and the vital meridian herbal essential oil will effectively relieve the soar muscles on the neck, shoulders and upper back.

Relieved of Chronic Asthma after 30 years

Magnolia Herbal Essential Oil

Vital Meridian Essence

Here's a story of how a lady relieved her chronic asthma of 30 years ........

Yukie Tansawa (Perth, Australia) 2007

Hello, my name is Yukie Tansawa. For the last 3 years I have been using aromatherapy to help with my asthma and low immune system. I have to thank Tony and Pauline for introducing Avita product to me.
I was a chronic asthmatic for more than 30 years. At first I did not believe that this little lamp could do so much for me, but it was my husband, Johnny, who encouraged me to use this product. I loved the beauty of the lamp as well as the lovely scent and aroma which refreshed the air. I never expected my asthma to improve so much. My condition got better and better after using the product.
When I first started using the lamp, I left it on the whole night. In the morning when I woke up, I did not experience the usual tightness in my chest. The next day I called Tony and asked him " Are you sure there is no steroid medication in the Eucalyptus oil?" He replied, "Of course not, it is all natural ingredients".
I quietly used the product for about 2 months. Then my friends started saying to me, "Yukie, you are looking so much better. You don't look so tired. You have put on weight. You are not pale anymore and have more energy". I used to visit my doctor for my prescription of antibiotics every 3 or 4 months. Now I do not need the antibiotics anymore. I can even play golf. Previously I could not even hit a few balls on the driving range without feeling exhausted.
My friends then asked me, "Can I try the products too?" They know that I am not the sort of person who will just introduce them something which is of no value. That was the start of my AVITA business.
I find that doing the AVITA business has made me more positive, caring and focused. Not only has it has helped me in my personal development, it has also made me healthier. I am very happy and committed to AVITA. Thank you!

I would like to add that in addition to using aromatherapy, Yukie could have also at the same time apply acupressure with Magnolia Herbal Essential Oil with Vital MeridianEssence to her Zhong Fu (hollow in front of shoulder) and Zhi Ze (elbow line) on her Lung Meridian as well as He Gu (thumb web) on the Large Intestine Meridian.
